Great Food & Libations in the Northern Rockies

I've long wanted to visit the Rockies and had an opportunity to spend two amazing weeks there this year logging over 4,000 miles in a van packed with friends. Yes, the scenery was inspiring, the activities heart-pounding and the hospitality ... well, hospitable. But the big surprise was the food.

Highlights included the Ketchum Grill in Ketchum, ID (try the Grilled Meatloaf with tomato-currant chutney and Port wine, the 2nd Street Bistro in Livingston, MT (loved the fried Brie crusted in panko bread and served with berry jam and the Geiser Grand in Baker City, OR (with too many yummy desserts to list them all). Of course, there are lots of great micro-brews, but equally good were some of the local wines - the 2006 Bistro Rouge from Pend d'Oreille Winery was a great find.
